On the second day, we looked at doing transects where we took counts of how many Bilby/Bettong foraging pits and Rabbit foraging pits there were at regular distances. This would provide a baseline of what the density would be for naturally occurring foraging pits. The interesting thing for me was seeing these pits for the first time. I was tasked originally with figuring out what the best way would be to recreate these pits using normal tools and it was actually quite difficult to find images and descriptions online about them. I’ll document them in another post specifically about their sizes. In driving around Scotia Sanctuary in our breaks, we did come across some wonderful wildlife.

The thing about the desert / remote areas is that you can see the stars quite easily. The remarkable thing was that you could see the Milky Way without the use of any tools. My first attempt at photographing the sky:
