Terrace house additions and alterations
Terrace houses are often challenged for light and sun access. This design responds to arduous Council restrictions as well as significant factors relating to aircraft noise intrusion. Nevertheless, with the application of judicious use of skylights, roof windows and a north facing clerestory there is a sense of lightness that enhances the amenity in delightful ways.
The generous informal living spaces open to a large alfresco area that steps up to a green garden. The children’s bedrooms are combined as one space initially but can easily be divided into two at some time in the future; each with its own access. The main (parent’s) bathroom is generous in proportion and features a luxury bath. An attic home office provides a separate space to retreat to, away from the bustle of the busy family. Overall, a lot of amenity in a compact home.
