Yesterday was an action packed day that ranged from having an amazing time, to nearly spewing everywhere – so overall – not a bad day! It started off with a tour of the Cahuachi Pyramids in a fantastic off roader buggy and then onwards to sand boarding or “samboarding” as they call it there. It was one of the most fun tours I’ve ever been on in terms of excitement and pure fun. Its something that is completely recommended, especially if you’re on a G Adventures tour. It was only 110 sols for 4 hours of immense fun.
The added fun was that the buggy did break down… twice… in the middle of no where. The drive shaft just fell apart, but of course we were lucky that we were on flats and not going up any dunes at the time! It eventually got fixed and a replaced buggy also came to take us to the airport.
Once we got going and saved, we ended up at the airport for a tour of the Nasca Lines. The second image below is the normal exposure for the image (its a whale), and the others I’ve set the contrast pretty high to make the lines as distinguishable as possible. They were actually quite small and it was a bit of a Where’s Wally up in the sky. It was also pretty terrible in the back of a Cessna and feeling so very sick. It was the combination of motion sickness and then looking through the lens to try to take photos. Survived without a spew of course, but was pretty miserable for an hour afterwards!
We finished off the evening with a Pachamama ceremony with delicious foods cooked on coals in the ground. It did look like a pile of dirt at some point.
