I’m full, so that must be a good thing! The Lima Gourmet Company seems to run full groups from Monday to Saturday. I had David and the driver pick me up and drop me off from my hotel (they even gave me a lift to my next hotel which was very nice of them). It started off at Tostaduria Bisetti with a quick tour of Barranco and a coffee to start off the day. They showed us the beans that are culled when selecting beans for their shop, and also a very smooth tasting drip coffee.

Next on the list was La Bodega Verde for a delicious Lucuma milkshake.

This was followed up by a trip to the markets in San Isidro, where we got to try out all the fresh fruits that we mightn’t see back at home. Their corn was definitely a hit.

We then headed to Embarcadero Fusion for some Pisco Sour and Ceviche making. Little did I know that Pisco Sour has 3 shots of Pisco in it! No wonder the one I had yesterday went straight to my head! I hadn’t had the chance to try Ceviche yet, but having made it myself, made it that much better!

We then ended out trip at Huaca Pucllana for Tapa’s style appetisers and desserts and boy was it as delicious as it looked.

Wrapping up the trip with a brochure of restaurants to visit as well as things to do. It seems that over the last 10 years or so, Lima has turned itself into a culinary hot spot with 3 restaurants in the top 100. Its still at a point of growth, especially with all its fusion mixes. It’s kind of funny that something like Quinoa has been such a staple for Peruvians for so long, and only until the last couple of years has it made it to Australia as part of a must have on all cafe menus.

I definitely do recommend this tour for anyone visiting Lima and wanting to something to do for 5 hours. There are day time tours as well as night time tours. They run them in either Spanish or English. If you love food, and plan to stay long enough to want to try a few restaurants, I recommend you start off on this tour first so you can figure out where to go for the subsequent meals. Also, apparently with the seafood restaurants, they only open from 12 until 5, serving lunch as after 5, the seafood isn’t as fresh any more.
