So we ended up catching an early train to Florence, since we were too tired to see any more. We headed to the Vatican in the morning yesterday. The lines were around the block, I couldnt actually see where the line started or ended where we were. We ended up paying 35 Euro for a tour to skip the line.
The Sistine Chapel is unbelievable. The ceilings and walls looks amazing, and its quite hard to imagine how someone was able to go through doing all that for years on end. The history was enlightening. Bit of a shame photos weren’t allowed even though there were so many people blatently taken photos with thei cameras, or getting their kids to do it.
So trained it into Florence last night. Got here around 8pm, the hostel – Plus Florence – is THE BEST hostel I’ve been to, and many people here have agreed. Its basically a hotel with 6 other people in your room. Everything is clean, well maintained, pool, sauna, gym, restaurant, bar, disco area. Its just an amazing place to be, and its a bit of a shame we are only here for 2 nights.
Last night – long night, since there were drinks to be had, and some partying at the bar. Woke up after not having enough sleep, and booked the Uffizi and Academia museums. The lines were… well for Uffizi, we were told about 3 hours, instead we forked out the 4 euro booking fee and skipped the line, as the Academia as well. Quite interesting places to visit. David was a highlight since paintings aren’t really my thing, but I do appreciate what artists have done over the years.
Pasta (I thought it was a cheeseburger) dispensing machine became my new best friend… for the whole of 2 minutes, before I ate the pasta… and then it just wasn’t what I was expecting…
Tonight, might head out to see a few more sights and tomorrow – Duomo before heading out to Pisa for a couple hours and then into Cinque Terre.
The photos I posted aren’t the best quality since the tools I grabbed clearly arent doing the best job. I’ll sort them out once I get back.
