So I was going to write this one whilst having breakfast, but we ran out of time. Currently, sitting at the port on Mykonos waitng for our ferry – which is 2 hours away. Its basically dirt everywhere – and windy.
So for the past few days… well we were in a beach cabin – a 3m x 3m white walled cell for the first night. At least there was a bed, and some sort of security with our gear. We ended up heading into town and to Space – which is a club here – expensive but got ourselves in for free with the helpof Vivian – who had been working there for a few weeks now, and in.. 17 more days, will be heading back to France to complete her studies there.
Second day – woke up at a reasonable hour – but not early enough to head into town, so it ended up being a day of lazing around on the beaches – Paraga. Its unbelievble how many italians are here on mykonos, and how sleazy they are.
What you see at the beaches is absolutely gorgeous. Swimming in it is even better. There aren’t any wayes though. The second nght we ened up heading out again into town – after a lovely feed from our tenting family. The second and third night we ended up tenting it, since it was a whole lot cheaper. There had been a family of sorts stayying there as well, working, and coking, so it was great to have some real food, instead of the food we tend to buy and eat (Gyros – pronounces GUY-ROWS – not really).
In town, we went to the Scandinavian bar – which was full of Aussies. It just isn’t possible to escape australians. I left an hour earlier than the others since I planned to check out the Town during the day to grab some phtoos since for 2 days, I hadn’t seen anything in the day. Slept comfortably in the tent – but the island is really windy, so the noises in the area tend to keep you up. The next day – 8am, woke up – headed into town on the bus – didn’t want to hire a scooter since I’m sure I wouldve crashes since I still felt drunk. I found me the shots I wanted – the ones you see on postcards and a few others. It was about 4 hours of wandering about through the streets – getting lost, but finding gems.
Came back for lunch – before more beaching – and then clubbing. The club at Paradise Beach had been closed for the first 2 nights we were there – unfortunately, but it opened up last night, but the music just wasnt that great. Found our way to bed in the early hours, and waiting to get on this ferry for another sleep.
Mykonos is a party persons island, where you would sleep between 8 am and 3 pm and get up to start partying all over again. Santorini was a lot more relaxed and a better holiday destination in my books.
A ferry just docked, but its not mine – its swaying from side to side and making me nauseous.
Next stop is Athens again, before heading off to Patras tomorrow – and sleeping on an “open deck” tomorrow night on the ferry to Bari.
